Weekend Happenings + A Baby Shower

Good Monday Morning to ya!
This is MY LAST MONDAY TO WORK {outside of the home}
My last Monday commute in hellish traffic.
My last Monday packing my lunch.
My last Monday.
For a while at least.
I've worked since I was 14 years old, my first job was cleaning houses that were being built.
Sweeping drywall dust, cleaning mud off of windows, etc.
I'm really not sure how it's going to be to NOT have to be somewhere Monday morning.
But, my time has come to an end.
This time next week, I'll be home with my boy!

So, cheers to Monday!

Friday night we went to see Luke Bryan.
And, I didn't go into labor.
Three cheers for that.
That man earned every bit of his Entertainer of the Year status!

Easton had his first sleep over at Honey's house on Friday night.
He had a big time.
He's already requested to do it again.

Saturday we did some shopping for the nursery.
Some running around.
Ate lunch.
Naps.
Hung curtains in the nursery.
Hung shelves.
This nursery will be the death of me.
Too.  Many.  Opinions.

Sunday, we all slept in and didn't make it to church.
But I got lots done Sunday morning, in prep for the week.
That's always a good feeling.

I had a shower at noon, hosted by my sister in laws.
It was a sweet time!
With lots of yummy food!

We finished off Sunday with a quick visit to Oktoberfest.
Little did we know it closed at 4 and got there at 3:45.
Major let down.
However, note to self for next year...this event looked like SO MUCH FUN!
We'll have to go back for sure!
Poor Easton had looked forward to the 'jumpy tangs' for 2 days.
He got to do 3 or 4 of them and we got cotton candy and kettlecorn so he was fine.
We went to Sonic and to the Playground for an added bonus.

And, here it is Monday again...

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Pregnancy Update:: Emerson Sloan

I did so much better posting weekly pictures and updates with Easton.
I've been taking them and I post them on Instagram weekly, but not with too many updates.

Today, I'm 33 weeks.
I had my check up this morning and all looks good.
He sees no reason to believe I'll deliver early, which was relief to me.
She's head down with a strong, healthy heart beat.
I am at 25 lbs weight gain so far.
And measuring 33 cm down the center of my belly.

As with Easton, this pregnancy has been pretty asymptomatic.
I have indigestion at night, but it's somewhat manageable with Zantac and Tums.
And 14 pillows propping me up.
My newest symptom is numbness in my hands.
I'm working on her baby blanket, and about 3 weeks ago after I'd crocheted for an hour or so, my left hand started tingling.  This continued about a week and I finally googled it.
Turns out, you can develop Carpel Tunnel during pregnancy.
It's getting progressively worse so these next 7 weeks should be fun.
Dr. B did say it was common and would go away after she's born.
His suggestion was splints at night time to help provide some relief.

She's an active little girl.
Always moving, reminding me she's in there.

Her room is making progress.
Walls have been painted.  Whispering Peach.
Crib and Changing Table Painted.
Pie safe painted, needs to be distressed.
Curtains arrived, not yet hung.
Artwork has not been agreed upon.

My laundry basket has pink gowns and little tiny ruffle bottom pants.
A big change from camo t shirts and cargo shorts with mulch in the pockets.
I was folding a load of laundry last night and held up a tiny pair of ruffle bottom pants and Easton said 'what in the world is that?!'
I think we're in for some adjustment!

I'm very much looking forward to meeting Little Sister, but not quite ready just yet.
I'm still enjoying time with Easton and the ease of our current routine.

My job ends October 25th and I am thrilled to be able to stay home with Easton for a bit before Emerson makes her appearance and then home with both of them when that time comes.
I've prayed for a long time about being able to stay home with them and although the circumstances are not ideal, nor OUR plan, I'm very grateful for the opportunity.
Lots of adjustments on the forefront.
All good and exciting, just new.

So, 7 weeks to go.
Hopefully.

Here's to peach and gold and ruffles...and all things girly!
And maybe some cowboy boots & camo too.

It's a....

To say I am shocked would be an understatment.
I think I've felt all along that it was a girl, but never really accepted it.
I am carrying so similar to Easton.  Low and out front.  No real symptoms at all.
Her heart rate has remained consistent of what Easton's measured.
So I guess all the wives tales are really just that...tales.

But.  It's a girl!

As I lay there on the bed, Lance sitting at the foot of the bed and Easton standing on a step stool watching the ultrasound tech's every move, I was certain she would say it was a boy.

She started with the head and worked towards the feet, saving the NEWS for last.

At first glance at our baby, Lance said 'that's a little girl head'.

We continue down through the anatomy and sure enough, he was right.
She couldn't get a good picture for 'proof' but it was indeed a girl.

Lance was all smiles.

It took some time for it to soak in with Easton.
He looked at me, eye to eye when I told him that she just said it was a sister and said
"no, I wanted a brother."
We'd called her Levi for weeks now...yet suddenly, she wasn't a Levi afterall.
The tears ran down my face quicker than I could help.
I had visions of 2 little shaved heads riding around in the Gator, playing baseball, fishing.

But HE had better plans for our family.

Now, one of each.
A BOY AND a GIRL!
A little sister for Easton to look after.  To take care of.  To protect.
I always wanted a big brother my whole life, and now this little girl will have what I always wanted.
And he's gonna do a fabulous job at being her big brother.

I can't wait to see what these next few weeks hold for us.
Picking her name.
Deciding on nursery decor.
Letting it sink in that I can finally shop from the cute girl section at Target.

Stats for the memory book:
My BP: 102/66
Her heart rate: 148

There were a few things they wanted to monitor, but all things that they expect to correct themselves or show differently on the next ultrasound.  So, in 2 weeks, we'll see her again.
Hoping for a sweet little profile picture to see who she looks like!

Vacation is just around the corner!
So much excitement going on over here!

First movement:: 16 weeks

Last night I was laying in the bath I felt what felt like a knee or elbow slide across my belly right under my belly button.  I thought surely it was nothing and kept scrolling through my IG feed, as I lay there.  Suddenly I felt it again.

I forgot what those first little movements feel like.  It felt like a hip or a knee or maybe even an elbow stretching from one side to the other.  Just a little bit of a tight feeling but not a fast kick like I remember Easton.  As I lay in bed last night I continued to feel those movements the next few minutes.  Such a treasure to have this little one growing inside of me.

The time is already going by so quickly.  As I try to savor these last months just the 3 of us, it seems to go even faster than before, if that's at all possible.  Life is so busy.  There are so many things that require our attention in the afternoons.  The days all run together.

But I pray that these next 24 weeks will go by very slow and that we can savor this time together just the 3 of us before this new little one joins our family.

Old Wives Tales: Blue or Pink

I had my 15 week check up Tuesday.  Everything looks (sounds) good.  I've gained 1 lb since my 11 week check up so I feel pretty good about that.  My blood pressure was 111/70 and baby's heart rate was in the 150's.

I'm feeling good.  No nausea.  The first trimester had a tiny bit but once I got my prenatals on schedule (take them at night) and made sure to eat something with protien before I left for work in the morning I was good to go.

I tried to prod the Doctor to tell me whether he thought it was a girl or boy and he said he had a 50/50 shot.  So I paid him a few bucks to tell me it was a boy.  Something to hang on to until the Ultrasound scheduled for July 9.

Of course, I really want a boy but I (we) will love a little girl as well.  I go back and forth on what I think it is.  I think in my heart I feel like it's a girl, but my symptoms are all so similar with Easton that leads me back to a boy.  I like being the only girl in the house.  I like doing boy things with my boys.  I'm not a girly girl so I have a hard time picturing bows and ruffles in our mix.  Because there is NONE of that in our house now.  BUT, oh the things I could sew up for a little girl.  That box of ribbon could make some super sweet little bows.  All that scrap fabric could make some super cute patch work bloomers.  BUT...boys. Fishing.  Balls.  Dirt.  Baseball.  Matchbox cars. I love all that so much too.  Either way, a new baby will be a blessing.  Pink or blue will be loved beyond belief.

So, I thought it would be fun to compile a list of the old wives tales about gender prediction.  Here's what I came up with based on my pregnancy:

Carrying High or Low: Low: Boy

HR <140 boy="" is="">140 girl: HR 150s: Girl (Easton's was always 150-165)

Chinese Gender Predictor: Girl

Even & Odd: Legend has it that the Mayans determined a baby's sex by looking at the mother's age at conception (30) and the year of conception (2013). If both are even or odd, it's a girl. If one's even and one's odd, it's a boy: Boy

Even & Odd {version 2} The age of the mother in the time of conceive (30) Month of conceiving (March): 30+3=33: Odd: Boy

Break Outs: The belief goes that girls steal their mother's beauty, hence, those annoying zits: Girl

Morning Sickness (minimal): Boy

Cravings: Juice, Fruit & Sweets (and COLD): Girl

Change in hair (thin & dull): Girl

Dry Skin: Girl

Girl (6) Boy (4)

July 9 at 8:30 we should know if it's a boy or a girl!  I'm excited to start planning a nursery and transforming Easton's room now to his big boy room!

Also, I'll save you a belly picture this week because it's one I sent to my mom asking if a 2 piece at this stage in pregnancy is ok or not.  She said go for it...so I did.  And I wasn't near the biggest (pregnant or not) nor was I the only pregnant gal in a 2 piece.  So tan belly it was and may be the remainder of the summer!

So, lets take a little poll, leave a comment and tell me if you think it's a boy or girl!

Easton's going to be...

A BIG BROTHER!

We are thrilled to welcome a little baby into our family!
Baby #2 is due to arrive December 3, 2013.
I was 11 weeks on Tuesday and had my routine check up that day as well.
We heard a strong heartrate at 150.
Easton's calling the baby a boy- Levi to be exact.
Only time will tell!
I'm looking forward to slowing down this summer and enjoying these last few months as the three of us.
Life just really goes way too fast, but I want to savor this time.
