Well, another Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas is now on the radar. This year, Thanksgiving was a bit of a blur due to one sick baby! Easton came down with Bronchiolitis on Monday night\Tuesday morning. He ran a fever of 102.4 nearly all day Tuesday. Wednesday his fever had subsided but he was still not himself. Luckily daddy was home most of the day with us so we could all rest and heal together.
Wednesday night we had dinner with Lance's dad's side of the family. Everything was yummy! {I failed to get any pix of dinner...}
Thursday we made it to Nana's (my dad's mom) and then Grandmomma's (Lance's mom's mom) shortly thereafter. Easton was a trooper even though he was still under the weather.
{There's too many people in this pic to list them...but this is the Robinson crew!}
I was a little worried that we'd be spending Thanksgiving at home just the 3 of us but I'm very THANKFUL that we were able to be with all of our family.
At the Robinson Christmas, it's a tradition that the girls do a craft after dinner while the boy's play Poker. I have seen so many tutorials on paper garland on different blogs so I thought I'd try my hand at it and do it as our craft. I did mine on the sewing machine, but we did the craft on twine. Both are cute!
I cut out a BAZILLION 2" circles! (I used a little nifty tool from Joann's that is the bomb-digity!- GO GET IT if you are going to do this craft. It's in the scrapbook section- it's a glorified hole punch)
We also cut out some Christmas shapes too- trees, stars, Reindeer...
Then, I put 2 together (because I didn't get double sided paper)
And I ran them through my sewing machine with contrasting thread!
AND WA-LA----garland! I think it adds a nice rustic look to my mantle.
Of course, you could use any paper but I chose this old timey Christmas cardstock paper.
For the craft at grandmomma's we simply used twine. We sandwiched the paper around the twine, one on front and one on back and hot glued them together. Either works just fine. I like the look of the twine but I like the closeness of the circles when using the sewing machine.
As for being THANKFUL, I am thankful for so much. I am thankful for Jesus. I have a wonderful husband that is committed to our family, he's a hard worker and provider for our family. He is an amazing father. I am blessed to have such a wonderful little boy and so thankful to be his mother. I am thankful for this weiner dog who is asleep in my hubby's lap who loves me even when I ignore her because I have bigger things going on. I am thankful for my family, my inlaws, my friends. I am thankful for Easton's school and the teachers there that love him and take care of him while I work. I am thankful for my job and my coworkers. I am thankful for our home and the cozy-ness that I feel when I walk in the door. Really, I could go one but it really comes down to this... I.AM.THANKFUL.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
