The Wilson County Fair

We went to the Fair twice this year.
It's always a good time.
Fair food.  Bright lights.  Fun rides. People watching.
Count us in!

My favorite is all the old-timey stuff.  Mule churned ice cream, The Gallinippers, well water pumping for the kiddos, the Amish churning Sorghum for molasses.  Cause we all know I {heart} The Amish.  And Swirly Taters & a Sweet Tea.  Of course!  A good time for everyone.

The Midway never disappoints either!  My boys LOVE all the rides.  Easton was almost tall enough for all of the rides this year. And snuck on a few that he wasn't quite tall enough with the ole 'prop your hat up top of your head' trick.  His favorite is still the 'spinny tang' aka Tilt-A-Whirl.  All the There are all sorts of sights to be seen at the Fair.  People of all kinds.  Fair people watching may just trump The People of Wal-Mart.

And the coolest kid at the fair.  Ever.

We love the Wilson County Fair!
Next year can't come soon enough!

July 4th Celebration!!!

If we were ever closer to needing to build an ark, I don't think I remeber a time.

It has rained for days!
I so wanted a long SUNNY Holiday Weekend but we didn't get that!

We had a fun celebration with the Mitchell/Landers side of the family despite the rain!

Shirt made by me.  Tutorial here or here

Alex manned the grill all afternoon IN THE RAIN.
Their house is PERFECT for entertaining!
It should be in magazines!

Here's most of the gang.
This is obviously my mom's side of the family minus a few.

And.  My boys!  LOVE those two!

...and a little late night firework action of our own at home.
Our neighbors all around shot fireworks for about a week.
Next year, we'll save our money and just watch their show!
They had some huge fireworks!

Hope you all had a fabulous 4th!

Long WONDERFUL Holiday Weekend

THIS was one of those weekends for the record books.
Friday off work.  Hair appointment.  A trip to the mall.  Picked up my boy early from school.
Played outside until the last possible minute to go meet friends for supper.
S'mores with friends after supper.
Boy falling asleep on the way home.
And this was just Friday.
The rest of the weekend followed suit as such.
It was absolutely refreshing. Soul filling.  Much needed together time.
My tank is full.
Saturday we went to the Flea Market.
Sun kissed shoulders.
A good nap for my boy.
My man took an afternoon stroll on the lake.
Saturday night we had a double date with some friends of ours.
Glorious night out on the town, good food, great friends.
Easton stayed home with his teacher from his former school.
They had a marvalous time, so we heard.
As did we.

Sunday was church.
After a few missed Sundays, it was good to be back.
A quick trip home to pick up our cooler and boat, change into our swims and out on the lake.
Jon Boat.  Picnic.  Fishing. Sunshine.
Together.
Full, full heart.
A requested nap by my boy, lasting over 3 hours.
It was glorious.
Low key night at home.
Together.

Monday.  Memorial Day.
Early riser gets everyone moving early.
We made it to the pool by 10.
Swam and went down the slide till his heart was content to leave without melt down.
Chick Fil A Picnic at the Park.
Another fabulous requested nap by my boy.
I washed both vehicles and cleaned the garage.
Productivity at it's finest.
We ended Sunday with BBQ at Lance's parents, and mani/pedis on the front porch.
I am so thankful for this weekend with my boys.
It was so refreshing to just BE.
With them.  Happy.  No rush.  Fun times.

I hope you all had an enjoyable Memorial Day as well.
Thank you to all who have served and for those who are still serving!
Hats off to you!

Family Bowling

After so many days off from work and school, we were running out of things to do.
This apartment only has so many rooms...and you can only do so much in here before you go bonkers!

Easton has a phrase he says.
He says "I wanna do somethin fun".
That's normally how we can get him down for a nap with a promise of something fun when he wakes up.

Last nights 'somethin fun' was Bowling.
It was going to just be the three of us, but the whole Farrar clan was in on the bowling trip!

I'm pretty sure it's going to take a lot to top this fun.

We did end the night on a sad note.  Easton cried all the way home.  He doesn't cry.  Hardly ever, if at all.
However, he started crying and there was no consoling him.  Holding his stomach and arching his back like he had cramps or something.  This lasted all the way home.  Sad, sad boy.
He finally cried himself to sleep on my chest on the couch.
We had a long night on the couch together.  No more tears once asleep, thankfully.
I sure hate not knowing what's wrong.  I want to fix it so badly.

Happy New Years Eve!!!

A Christmas Recap

This Christmas was a lot of fun.
I enjoyed teaching Easton about Jesus.  His birth.  In a barn.  The Wise Men.  The Angel.
His momma and daddy.  Mary & "JoJo"
{Funny story: We were talking about Mary and Joseph being Jesus' mommy and daddy.  Easton made the connection that Joseph in his class at school is called JoJo, so Jesus' dad is now JoJo!  LOVE HIM!}

This year, no different than the rest we had 8 different 'events'.  I'm not joking.  Eight.
It's craziness.
I wish we had a day or at least a half day at each spot, but it all gets crammed in 2-3 days.

Nevertheless, we make the best of it.
We try to enjoy each spot as much as we can before moving on to the next spot.

Easton had a random temperature Sunday night along with complaints of right leg pain that would literally bring him to his knees when it hit, but other than that we were healthy for the most part.  The leg complaints continued through Wednesday, when I had finally gotten a doctors appointment scheduled, but I ended up cancelling it for fear of more germs and also the leg pain wasn't mentioned again.

Easton wasn't 100% but he kept up with the hoopla as best he could.

Short naps Christmas Eve & Christmas Day were made up for with sleeping in a little later the next morning. Snuggled in momma and daddy's bed till 8 or sometimes 9 o'clock.

I won't go into the details of where we went at what time, who got what, etc, etc.  I'll just let the pictures do the talking!  And...out of the 400+ pictures I took, I am in 6 of them.  We have one family picture...at the end of the day...after it had misted rain on us every time we got out of the car (gross hair for mom).  I have very little pictures of the grandparents and the great-grandparents.  This makes me sad.
Needless to say, I'm making a list of PICTURES TO TAKE CHRISTMAS DAY for next year.

And dearest family or friends, if you don't mind...if you see the 3 of us together...me and my boys, please suggest a family picture.  I'll owe you big time!  And I'll love you forever.  Promise.

Love this!  My Great Grandmother (Easton's Great-Great) gave him this little rocking chair.
That's her little sweet self in the background.

Yep.  That's the family picture.  I told him to go ahead and go duck hunting during nap time.
It gave me extra time at my momma's.  Win for us both.
But.
He comes to the next function like this.
Family loves you like you are.  Right?

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!
I know we did!

Thanksgiving 2012

This Thanksgiving might go down as one of my favorites.
It was a warm day, beautiful and sunny, but crisp.
My Nana's is always at noon on Thursday.
The food was AMAZING!
The hostess is AMAZING!
She deserves a whole post on her own.
She is my soul sista!  FOR SURE!

In all my years I've never been up to this particular spot on her land.
Typically there was an electric fence in this corner of the land that had donkey(s) so I'm sure that had something to do with it.
Just a few of us walked up there first, but then we convinced most of the rest of the group to come up too.
It was so nice to just be outside.  Free room to run and play.  Warm sunshine on our faces after our bellys were ful.
Truly a day to be thankful for.
After Nana's we headed home for naptime, only to find Kirby had eaten the very last ra-ra.
We wrestled on the couch for about 45 minutes before Easton fell asleep, but he finally did.

After nap, we headed to Grandmomma's.
Still stuffed from Nana's but we enjoyed some yummy food and desserts again.

At Grandmomma's each year, we make a craft.  I love this tradition.
This year was modge podging a piece of cardboard with old hymns then stenciling your favorite holiday saying on top and painting.
Below is the example.
Then once dry, you put it in a festive frame and you have a new Christmas decoration!
So easy, and so cute!!!
We truly have SO MUCH to be thankful for!

Embracing- with the grandparents

We are so blessed to have most of our family close by.
We are even more blessed to have our parents within 15 minutes of us.

Each one brings something different, yet important, to Easton's life.
It's so special to see just how each one interacts with him and how he responds to their love.

He loves to read daddy's old books when he's at Honey's house.
She has more toys than we have so he never gets bored over there.

He likes to share Candy Corn with Bob.
{yes, he wants to be called Bob- and it stuck...Easton will correct you if you call him Grandaddy}

With Gigi he always has to smile for the camera.  Gigi likes pictures.
They also have fun in the yard picking up sticks and throwing them in the ditch and collecting acorns.  You can bribe him for kisses with Acorns.

And with Papa, he's the calmest I've ever seen him.
But Papa is pretty quiet and easy-going so I guess it just rubs off on him.
This particular day they were watching the squirrels and talking about how they run in a pattern, up the tree, down the tree, across the yard and back.

I am so very thankful for each of these people and I thought it appropriate to include them in todays Embrace The Camera!

Honey, Bob, GiGi {Big Ron} & Papa, THANK YOU for loving our boy so much!
