Emerson Sloan:: 9 months

Emerson, You are a busy little thing.
Currently at my feet playing with a tiny plastic jar from Easton's cooking drawer.
Standing up. Taking up to 8 steps. 1 tooth.
Lots of changes in your development this month.
Full of personality.
Funny little thing.
Quite the temper.
You're going to be the little girl with dirt all over her and her hair a disheveled mess at all times.
Sleeping better at night.  Going to bed by 8.  Eating around 3 or 4.  Sleeping till 6:30 or 7.
Far better than what it had been.
Last night was a doozy but I'll chalk that one up to the Dr. Pepper I had at lunch and one too many Chocolate Oatmeal No Bake Cookies throughout the day yesterday.
You love to eat.  You prefer finger foods over puree.
But we have to do puree food to put MCT Procal in.
We started that about 2 weeks ago and you didn't even notice.
That is 3 tsp, 3 times a day in with your food.
This is for your VLCAD, which Praise the Lord hasn't been an issue thus far.
You are still nursing.  It's become more of a wrestling match than a peaceful 15 minute time to sit down for momma.  I'm finding that if I stretch your nursings from 4 hours to closer to 4 1/2 this helps.
You still don't nap in your bed.  I'm not sure you ever will.
I attempt it at least once a week, but you fight it and eventually win.
You love Easton.  Y'all play so well together.  He loves you so very much!
You're a strong little girl Emerson.
Physically and mentally.
A true joy to us all!

9 Months Emmy Boo!
We love you Sister!

The Wilson County Fair

We went to the Fair twice this year.
It's always a good time.
Fair food.  Bright lights.  Fun rides. People watching.
Count us in!

My favorite is all the old-timey stuff.  Mule churned ice cream, The Gallinippers, well water pumping for the kiddos, the Amish churning Sorghum for molasses.  Cause we all know I {heart} The Amish.  And Swirly Taters & a Sweet Tea.  Of course!  A good time for everyone.

The Midway never disappoints either!  My boys LOVE all the rides.  Easton was almost tall enough for all of the rides this year. And snuck on a few that he wasn't quite tall enough with the ole 'prop your hat up top of your head' trick.  His favorite is still the 'spinny tang' aka Tilt-A-Whirl.  All the There are all sorts of sights to be seen at the Fair.  People of all kinds.  Fair people watching may just trump The People of Wal-Mart.

And the coolest kid at the fair.  Ever.

We love the Wilson County Fair!
Next year can't come soon enough!

Easton's First Day:: Pre K

My Baby Boy.
PreK.
What on earth is going on here?
I feel like he was just born.

We took a year off from school, but it was time to go back.
He's just going part time and he was so ready!
He went back to his old school, so he was so excited to see his old friends.

With nap mat ready, lunch packed, school supplies bought, back pack on, he was ready to go.
I was excited for him, but anxious to pick him up and hear all about it.

He had a great day.
"The playground wasn't as big as he remembered"
And when asked what they did, he just said they played all day.
He said 'school is pretty fun mom...reeeeeal fun.'

The director approached me Thursday when I picked him up and told me how happy they were to have him back.
She said it was like he'd never left.
All the children were so glad to see him.
He'd picked up right where he left off.

I am so glad he's back.
But it sure is quiet at home when he's gone.
We'll find our rhythm.  We'll get used to him being at school.
But for now, I keep looking around the corner for him.
Waiting for him to talk to me.
My little friend...off to school.
What a handsome little fella.

I am so proud of this little boy.  He's such a good boy.  He's a little magnet.  You can see that everyone loves to be around him.  He has the best heart.  He's tender.  He's funny.  He's thoughtful.  I am so thankful that he's ours.

Bug Spray with Young Living Essential Oils

It's no secret I love me some Thieves Essential Oil.
But after I ordered my Young Living Premium Starter Kit, I started researching other uses for the oils.
And to my surprise, Thieves & Purification are both used to keep pests away.
And living out in the country, WE HAVE PEST.

With a few ingredients, I made some Bug Spray.
for this 12 ounce bottle I used:
4 ounces of Witch Hazel
4 ounces of distilled (or boiled) water
5-6 drops of Thieves
5-6 drops of Purification

You could also use Peppermint if you had it.
(not suggested for infants or young children or nursing moms)

You can add more essential oils if you feel it needs to be stronger.

Mix all together and apply as needed.
This goes without saying...but avoid the face.

(Both of these oils come in the Premium Starter Kit)

Both Thieves & Purification have cleansing properties, but they also have many other uses.
Just a few examples...

Put thieves in your dishwasher, to clean & eliminate odors.
Diffuse thieves to clean the air in germ situations.
We use Thieves daily in the winter months to help keep germs away!

Purification can repel insects.
Apply undiluted directly on skin if you have a bug bite.
Add it to your washing machine to freshen laundry.
Diffuse purification to freshen and clean the air.
Add a few drops to a cotton ball and leave in laundry room, car, baby's room to freshen the air.

THIS OIL CAN BE PURCHASED THROUGH ME AT RETAIL PRICING, OR YOU CAN ORDER THE PREMIUM STARTER KIT AND GET 24% OFF OF RETAIL PRICING.

Email me for more information.  I'd love to help you see how oils can work for you.

Emerson Sloan:: 8 Months

Oh Emmy Boo.
She's really coming to life now.
She has opinions.  A voice.  Personality.

She is a full on crawler.
I have a feeling she will walk very soon.
She's pulling up on everything and will let go with one hand, sometimes both.
She has started pushing Eastons Spider Man ride-along-car and her little legs can hardly hold her up.

She continues to be a great eater.
Loving all the fruits and veggies I've been giving her.
I am still making her food, but she loves finger foods too.

We are still nursing.
Every 4 hours during the day and 5-8 hours at night.

Sleep has become more consistent sleeper at night, Praise the Lord.
Naps are still a challenge.  But we are working on that.
We did have a successful cry it out crib nap yesterday.
Easton and I enjoyed the fruits of our labor.
We had some outdoor time together while she napped.

She's started chatting a lot.
Da-da-da-da when she's happy.
Ne-ne-ne-ne when she needs something or is fussing.
I heard a ma-ma-ma tonight but I don't know that it was in reference to me specifically.

On 2 separate occasions this month, we've left her for a few hours and this hasn't gone well.
I think I've created a monster.
It's ok though.  She likes me.  I can't complain about that.
I like to think I'm teaching her how to be best friends with her momma.

I don't know her weight, but I would assume around 21 lbs.

Emmy Boo, We love you Sissy!

Sweet Summertime

Just another reason to love summer.
Juicy.  Fresh.  Amish.  Peaches.
We can't get enough of them.
We eat them every day!  Sometimes twice.
Even Emerson loves them.  Sister loves just about anything though.
Easton will eat these with the "stem on" aka- the skin.

We stopped at the market today and picked up more.
And this little fella can't keep his hand out of them.

Look at that juice on his chin.
Seriously, the best peaches ever.
If you're local, the Mt. Juliet Dairy Queen is now an Amish flower/produce market.
It's worth a visit!

Happy Summer

Pool Days

This Summer is the first I've had off in as long as I can remember.
I worked in high school, as a lifeguard and at a golf course in the Grille and on the Beer Cart.
Now, that was fun right there.  The Beer Cart.  There is money to be made on the Beer Cart!

Anyways, my first Summer off work.

We try to fill our days with outdoor actives and it's even better if we can do it with friends.

The best days are spent at the pool with friends.  The pool is a bit challenging with 2 kids, one being fearless and a new crawler.  But with friends, Easton has someone to play with, I have someone to talk to and it's perfect.

Little friends really are the best.  I hope they will be forever friends like us mommas are!
